Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Our congregation offers a comprehensive program leading to Bar and Bat Mitzvah, including youth-oriented Shabbat morning services, Support Groups for families with upcoming B’nai Mitzvah, individual Family Meetings with the Rabbi to discuss the importance of the ceremony, and private tutoring. The Temple has compiled a Bar/Bat Mitzvah handbook which outlines the goals and expectations of the program.

Bat Mitzvah

Adults who did not celebrate a Bar or Bat Mitzvah at age 13 are encouraged to study for Bar or Bat Torah, an adult celebration. A new practice for older individuals to read their Bar/Bat Mitzvah Torah portion on the anniversary of their first one. In 2004, a congregant did so on the 70th anniversary of his Bar Mitzvah!

Mazon

Our Temple is a partner with Mazon, a Jewish Hunger relief agency. It is the policy of our Congregation to contribute three percent of the total cost for food of any event held at the Temple to Mazon. We strongly encourage the Bar/Bat Mitzvah family do the same. The Temple office will provide the necessary information.
